When you launch the LEGO Boost app, it won’t continue until you’ve updated the firmware. It asks you to connect so it can update it, but it never actually updates. As I learned in this reddit thread, you actually need to get a different app and use that to update the firmware. Was making 20 pounds....then started going down to around 14, then won't go over 10. Maxed out the boost controller and managed to get around 12 and went back down to around 10.....then removed the boost controller and left the wastegate disconnected...only 10 pounds. No obvious boost leaks...no loud wooshing or anything..
